Still no mulching......but I built a bench!

I volunteered for a project over at Portage Park on Saturday and I built a bench!! Am rubbish at hammering and I very much doubt if the finished product would pass health and safety but am still very proud of myself!!

We were building planter benches which had been partially built (some very shod
dily!) and needed finishing off. Basically they gave us hammers, nails and a pile of wood and said 'Off you go!' :s which anybody who knows me could have told them was foolish!

Pool Day!

Today we went over to Shari's to play in her lovely pool :D Involved lots of sunbathing, splashing, swimming and afterwards lots of yummy food!

I do have a bit of a problem with bugs though (particularly waps :s) and you can guarantee that if there's water and food there'll be plenty of those around! So i did spend quite a lot of time running round the edge of the pool flailing my arms around and screaming like a girl! But i am a girl so i guess thats to be expected!

I decided it was time to go in when after i'd been sunbathing for a while i sat up and found a squished wasp where my head had been! It hadnt stung me or anything....dont think its stinger was long enough to get through all my hair! haha! Then a giant ant came and carried it away :s Am looking forward to being at home again, where the insects are normal!

My Friend Geoff

A dot lives on my ceiling and I like to call him Geoff. He never answers me though (I think he may be deaf!). I see him changing colour as I watch him from my bed. Sometimes he is blue or green! But mostly he's just red.

A dot lives on my ceiling and he moves from left to right. He thinks that I can't see him in the middle of the night. He waits til I'm not looking and darts across the roof! He makes it halfway down the wall, then vanishes with a POOF!

Yes, things have got that bad that I'm making friends with a tiny speck of light!

Will that do Mary?

Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy............

Just got back from Seattle a few hours ago and am completely knackered!!! The fishing trip was really cool though! Got some good pictures and more importantly some yummy fish! Well.....am assuming it's yummy as we havn't actually eaten any yet!

We were on the boat by about 5.30am (explaining the knackered-ness!) so we got to watch the sunrise from the boat which was very pretty :D Then Matt (the guy that took us out) set up all the gear for us (was a lazy mans fishing trip) and we set off across Puget Sound in search of salmon!

After about half an hour or so I caught my first fish!

His name is Geoffrey :)

After I caught my second fish I found out just how not fun sticking your finger in a live salmon is! They made me hold it up for a picture. Kirk (the other guy....think that was his name) was swinging his round by the gills like all 'lalala......this is easy' but his had been dead for half an hour! Mine was still wiggling!

Say hello to Mr. Smooshyhead! I really don't look happy! hehe!

Two superstitions I'd never heard of:
1. Bananas are bad luck
2. Yellow attracts sharks (they call it yum yum yellow - people not sharks coz they cant talk......or can they?)

Obviously John and I weren't aware of the first one as between us we'd brought six on the boat with us! oops! It seems the angry banana god spared us anyway seeing as we caught our limit and the boat didn't sink.

As for the yum yum yellow theory apparantly sharks can smell the colour yellow coz even though those bananas were out of sight in our cooler bags Kirk still caught a dogfish!

Will write more bout the rest of the trip later....is stupid o'clock in the morning and i need sleep!

Gone Fishin'

We're off on our fishing trip early (ish) tomorrow morning! Dad managed to upgrade us! Woop! & even better than that I don't even have to sit next to him! lol! We're on the same row so if I get really bored we're close enough together for me to throw stuff at him but far enough apart for the flight attendant to be able to stop him from strangling me :D

Oh yeah, we're not going to Vancouver anymore for anyone who didn't know. Dad found someone to take us out from Seattle which saves us about 10 hours driving and 2 ferry trips over 2 days. Also means we'll get to do a bit of sightseeing and seafood eating! Hooray for the seafood! Dad says he's gunna bring oysters on the boat for a snack.....is probably bull.....but you never can tell with that man.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack,

cock-a-doodle-doo!

Tonight was The Wiggles! I realise that when your 20 years old spending your Saturday night at a Wiggles concert is pretty lame but Captain Feathersword is just so cool!!

+ me Julie likes it :D which is the most important thing......this is her waving bye.......awwww....

Have also included a short (badly recorded video) of Captain Feathersword himself singing my favourite song :D

and yes....he is wearing a duck mask....

So this is what bread looks like in Wisconsin.........

My Dad obviously does not listen to anything anyone says! I was going to spend the weekend with Shari over at her parents house. They own a dollar store (a really cool one!) and her Dad's been ill so we went over to help out a bit. I couldn't remember where Shari's parents lived so I asked Dad and he told me it was in Wisconsin.

Phone conversation I had with Dad just before i left:

Dad : Have fun eating all the bread!
Me : Bread?
Dad : Yeah, it's a bread shop.
Me : I thought it was a dollar store?
Dad : Oh, maybe. I dunno.

So in summary Dad was under the impression that I was going to Wisconsin to work in a bread shop.

Was he right??

Erm, no!

It was a dollar store in Illinois (just on the border of Iowa) so not only did he get the wrong state he actually got the wrong direction too!!

Chuh! Silly man.
